Brief About The Project:
Based on an extensive research on the prison conditions in Lebanon – 60% of the prison population has not been convicted and there is a high rate of recidivism – I decided to create P3, a Pre-trial Post-Imprisonment Passage, in Mkaless, a dying industrial area that was once an agricultural land. It is a reenvisioned transitional home embodying a detention center for pre-trial detainees mixed with a rehabilitation center for ex-convicts merged together through the land, the agriculture. The project works as a machine that feeds not only inwards (for the detainees) but also outwards (through the market). The tie between the three is inspired by the oblique function, by Parent and Virillo.
