Brief About The Project:
The project began with an interest in the lost practice of pearl diving in Kuwait. Pearl diving took place in Kuwait 100 years ago and was a strong economic means until the discovery of oil. My project takes this practice from the past, relates it to practices in the present such as oil extraction, in order to speculate on a new system for the future. My site became an offshore oil rig which I intervened on and transformed from an oil rig to a bio rig. The project aimed to revive the essence of pearl diving by bringing back notions such as navigating the seas through the constellations. My project became a constellation in itself in which you could detach, orbit, and lose yourself at sea.
